The Fragrant Garden Throughout the Year, talk by Matthew Tanton Brown Thursday 23rd January

Matthew has extensive plant knowledge, having trained at RHS Wisley and he is currently manager at The Place for Plants. He will talk to us about incorporating fragrant plants into our gardens for year-round pleasure.

Water, Water Everywhere, talk by Karen Kenny Thursday 13th February

Karen is an environmental and freelance garden writer, broadcaster and lecturer and her topic for this talk is Water. Living in one of the driest counties in the UK, we are all conscious of using water effectively and efficiently.

Pests & Diseases, talk by Darren Brooks Thursday 12th March

Darren Brooks, manager at Notcutts Woodbridge, will be talking about pests and diseases, how to avoid them and how to treat them.

Trees & Hedgerows, talk by Anne Westover Thursday 2nd April

Anne is a landscape architect and worked for 20 years at Suffolk Coastal DC as landscape officer, now working independently. She will talk about trees and hedgerows in the landscape, looking at their value, species, and how to ensure they are valued and protected. Protecting trees, the Suffolk Hedgerow Survey and the Hedgerows Regulations are all useful tools when looking at development proposals and Anne will highlight these topics.

All talks take place in the Parish Rooms, Grundisburgh at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be provided.

TRIPS 2020

Daws Hall trip, Monday 3rd February

A tour has been booked to view the snowdrops in this fascinating garden, which will be followed by a light lunch at the Henny Swan. We will be departing Grundisburgh at 9.45am, with an additional pick up from Woodbridge at 10am, arriving back mid-afternoon.

Marks Hall & Ulting Wick trip, Tuesday 28th April

Marks Hall Walled Gardens and Arboretum form part of the 2,200 acre estate. We will depart Grundisburgh at 9.15am with an additional pick up from Woodbridge at 9.30am. We have booked a guided tour which will last 1-2 hours. There is time for lunch in the cafe (not included in the price) before we continue to Ulting Wick.

Ulting Wick will dazzle and amaze you with thousands of tulips. We have booked a guided tour and will finish with tea and cake before heading back to Grundisburgh.

RHS Wisley, Monday 22nd June

Wisley is the historic home of the RHS and houses one of the largest plant collections in the world. The gardens delight through every season and with our trip planned for June, the mixed borders and roses will be looking magnificent. We will depart Grundisburgh at 7.15am, with an additional pick up from Woodbridge at 7.30am. A guided tour is included and you will have the rest of the day to explore before we depart at 3-3.30pm, returning back to Woodbridge and Grundisburgh early evening.

Beth Chatto Gardens, Tuesday 22nd September

Beth Chatto was renowned for her ‘right plant, right place’ ethic and her garden shows she did indeed practice what she preached. We have arranged a late summer visit in order to see the iconic dry garden which will hopefully provide lots of inspiration for plants which thrive in this area. Entry to the garden and a Gardeners Tour is included in the price.

All trips will leave from the bus stop close to The Dog with second pick up from the Village Hall. Cars can be left in the Playing Field car park. There will be an additional pick up in Woodbridge from the bus stop in front of the swimming pool.
