Hidden Gardens

The Hidden Gardens event is organised each summer by the Grundisburgh, Burgh & Culpho Horticultural Society. Started in 1989 primarily to raise funds to enable the annual show to take place, over the years the society has also been able to pass money on to good causes.

In 2017 Hidden Gardens took place on the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 June. As usual gardeners in all three of the society’s villages had been invited to take part. This year 19 gardeners in Grundisburgh volunteered to open, all within 10 minutes walk from The Green and with a wide variety of gardens. Grundisburgh’s allotments and St Mary’s church were also included in the programme. The church flower arrangers mounted a flower festival on the theme of gardens and garden styles to co-incide with the event.

Teas were served in the nearby parish rooms in aid of the horticultural society; cake stalls on The Green raised money for local organizations while event sponsor, the nursery Katie’s Garden, had a wide range of plants for sale on The Green. A new second sponsor of Hidden Gardens was the nearby Dog pub which had a very busy weekend serving food and drink.

The event raised nearly £2,000 for society funds.

The Hidden Gardens weekend in 2018 will be 9/10 June.
